THE BRICKS SERIES: Building Blocks of a Society

THE BRICK SERIES: Building Blocks of a Society is a series of paintings that explores the interplay between individual identity and the larger social structure. Each artwork is painted on a brick, representing a person as a vital fragment of the world, contributing to the foundation of society. The bricks, whether salvaged or new, serve as a metaphor for the ever-evolving nature of our world—where history and modernity coexist and influence one another. The portraits reflect the tension between the weight of the past and the constant flow of contemporary media that shapes our identities. These faces, immersed in the currents of a media-saturated world, invite the viewer to consider the delicate balance between personal experience and collective existence. Through this series, I explore how individuals both shape and are shaped by the social structures they inhabit, drawing attention to the complex role we all play in the ongoing construction of our shared world.

Welcome to the Jungle aka Live-Streamed Chaos

"Welcome to the Jungle aka Live Streamed Chaos" is an artwork painted on an old burnt clay brick salvaged from a demolished building in my hometown. The brick, framed in a high-quality oak frame tinted by me, carries the weight of history and transformation. The portrait on the brick depicts a face seemingly transfixed by a screen, as light reflections alter the contours of the figure's features. The distant, absorbed gaze suggests deep immersion, highlighting the disconnect from the surrounding reality. This work metaphorically captures modern society's voyeuristic engagement with distant, catastrophic events, reflecting on the unsettling role of spectatorship in our media-saturated lives. The viewer is invited to contemplate the fine line between observer and participant in such events, subtly hinting at the possibility of being on the other side of the screen.
