THE POSTCARDS SERIES

The "Postcards" series is a collection of small-scale oil paintings, each measuring 22 x 24 cm, rendered on cardboard and framed in oak. These works are conceived as visual postcards—a nod to the tradition of sending greetings that capture the beauty and essence of a place or moment in time. Postcards, once a popular way to share experiences across distances, have largely disappeared in the digital age. Yet, through art, there is still relevance in creating these intimate, postcard-like images.

In this series, the idea of postcards takes on a new dimension. Rather than being sent to someone in a different place, these postcards are meant for recipients in a different time—perhaps even the future. They carry messages from our present perspective, capturing the essence of what is here and now, or hinting at what might be missing from it. Each painting becomes a visual message, a fragment of our shared experience, preserved for future contemplation.

The titles, such as "Health & Safety," "Ascension of Impermanence," and "False Sun," offer insights into the duality of human experience—balancing between safety and danger, permanence and change, truth and illusion. The series reflects my interest in the contrast between the physicality of oil paint and the fragile nature of cardboard, paralleling the delicate balance between strength and vulnerability inherent in the human condition.

The Postcards series invites viewers to engage with these small, powerful moments, to reflect on their meaning, and to consider the potential of these images as postcards sent from the present to an unknown future. In doing so, it celebrates the beauty of storytelling on an intimate scale, preserving moments that connect us across time.
